Abstract

The sesquicentennial of el benemérito Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo (HNDM), inaugurated on February 28, 1875, could not be commemorated only with official activities. It is important to recall that its origins date back to the colonial period, when it was known as the Royal Hospital of San Andrés, later receiving its current name in commemoration of the Battle of May 2, a date on which the patriot forces repelled Spain’s last attempt to physically regain control of Peru.
