Abstract

This is a patient, a 33-year-old woman with no medical history, undergoing a single second- trimester pregnancy, who presents an acute illness of 6 days, presenting dry cough then productive rusty cough, marked progressive dyspnea and right thoracic pain, goes to the emergency room where images show the presence of right basal consolidation, causing acute respiratory failure, goes to the ICU for the purpose of management of respiratory failure and targeted antibiotic treatment, complementary tests are performed, such as respiratory IFI, respective cultures, a germ causing atypical pneumonia is isolated, the respiratory difficulty is noticeably exacerbated with a high possibility of using invasive mechanical ventilation, but is favorably controlled with a high flow nasal cannula, with favorable evolution.
